1. My favorite disc would have to be my Discraft Wasp, but I would literally have to quit disc golf if I didn't have my 1st Run DX Spiders which I've been putting with almost since I started playing.
2. My favorite battle was at a CSUMB doubles fundraiser playing with Manuel Fernandez as my partner.
3. My favorite disc golf excursion\tournament was the 2005 PDGA AM Worlds in Flagstaff AZ.

I carry way too many discs and on any day I end up using just a few of them. No such thing as an indispensible disc... if I showed up to play with nothing I’d be good to go just by borrowing an overstable driver (Boss), an understable driver (Sidewinder), a fairway driver (Leopard), a versatile midrange (Skeeter), and any putter. If I had to play with just one disc I’d choose a Tern because I could make it act like all of the above with a little work.

What is a disc that you would always bring to the competition, which one can you not go without?
"No time" KC Pro Roc (my second disc) (although I don't use it in Monterey due to the wind and length of the courses..), or an Innova Max (in general)

Remembering a great battle...
During the last round of the Masters Cup in 2015, I knew I had to shoot well under par to have a shot at making the cash, I think I was hovering around 40th place. I was going to run everything and leave it all on the course. On hole 5 I decided to throw a different disc and turned to grab it from Nick who was caddying for me. I hit my head on the low hanging branch hard enough to make my teeth chatter and mouth bleed, and everyone advised me to sit down for a few minutes. It must have knocked something loose because I birdied 6, 8, 8a, 9, 10, and 11 and ended up at -5 which bumped me up to 23rd place. This was my strongest finish at an NT -
I placed 13th at collegiate nationals but was in the lead during the final round and gave it away after some bad breaks, so it felt good to have a strong finish for once.

A favorite disc golf excursion...
The Jackson and Steady Ed courses at the IDGC in Georgia are my favorites, but I very much have enjoyed trips to Portland for Worlds and the Memorial with Chris Edwards and again to the memorial last year with Sias, Jack and Nick.

1. What is a disc that you would always bring to the competition, which one can you not go without? DGA Breaker. Best upshot disc I've ever thrown. Extremely predictable for short drives as well.
2. Will you give me a brief memory of a great battle you had on the course? I had a great battle just this past weekend at the Kelp Klassic with Jason Olcese. We had multiple lead changes over 18 holes, with him having a 1 stroke lead going into 18. I hit my long putt to tie it up, but he took the playoff! Crazy round for sure!
3. What has been your favorite disc golf excursion? 2016 Memorial trip with fellow team members, Nick Sorich, Aaron Konicheck, and Jack Lu. 7 days straight of disc golf with 3 awesome and talented golfers!

Disc golf is such a big part of my life. A friend of mine introduced me to it in 1996 but I got serious about throwing in 2005. From then I tried to play as much as I could. My skills really improved once I participated in professional competition in 2012.
Although I really enjoy San Jose weekly events, one of my great adventures was the 2015 Jelly Jam in Monterey. San Jose normally has a good showing with about 20+ golfers showing up each year. I came in second place behind Danny Kerfeld by one stroke but I was battling Sias Elmore, Leif Swenson and Jason Olcese. It was such a close finish that really anyone had a chance on our card. This was the closest I have come to winning a PDGA event.
Among the best memories is a trip to Arizona to play in the Memorial Championship in 2016 for my 38th birthday. I drove up with Sias Elmore and was joined by Jack Lu and Aaron Konicheck. We were greeted with great weather, incredible courses and insane competition. I didn’t throw my best but Sias cashed and Jack came in 2nd place in Advanced. Needless to say, we were a very happy group. I’m hoping to go again to celebrate my 39th.

What is a disc you need? PD2--it is money backhand and forehand.

I remember when all the big rim discs came out in 2011. I just started to emerge back onto the scene when my twins turned 1 (not much disc golf when you have a 2 year old and twin infants.) I started to throw the Nuke, and the Rampage and the Cannon, at the time I also picked up the Hurricane from Don Smith (he was sponsored by DGA at the time). The one that is still in my bag today is the Hurricane. I can throw it just as far and it is far more consistent for me that the others. It remains my main driver.
I remember Merle Witvoet telling me once that he can get used to any disc, just have to throw it a few times. I know this is true and the secret to a solid game is definately practice with your arsenal. Its true that you can find nearly identical disc molds amongst every company, but what I like to look for is that one mold that is truly unique. DGA's Breaker is one of those gems. It is a disc that I park nearly every time I use it. I honestly don't know why anyone would approach with something different.
I love the mere point of competition, I think you have to in order to keep growing at this sport. As much fun as it is to let your game get the attention of people who do not know you, I find so much enjoyment from playing with great friends. The bonus of Disc Golf is that the more you play, the more you become friends with the people you compete against, so you get to play with and against great friends!

In 2002 I lived in Modesto California with a good buddy of mine Kevin Stalcup and we decided to make the trip up to see the Masters cup. That year as I was sitting down watching the people throwing off top of the world an elderly man was sitting beside me we just sat there talking about the throws we were in awe of, like the shot that came in landing by the basket and o.b. I must have sat their for a good half hour talking to this guy that I had no clue he was the legendary Steady ED. Some other golfers came up to him and asked him for his autograph, I was like "your Steady," and he just smiled.
